It feels like you can’t go anywhere without encountering these three letters. What is CBD, anyway? It stands for Cannabidiol, one of more than 100 cannabinoids found in cannabis sativa plants.
Cannabidiol — as well as the other cannabinoids found in cannabis sativa, including industrial hemp — interacts with the endocannabinoid system. All mammals, including people, dogs, and cats, have an endocannabinoid system. This system consists of a number of receptors found throughout the body and in the brain. Cannabidiol and the other cannabinoids interact with these receptors.
What are the different types of CBD extract?
CBD can be found in three varieties: full-spectrum, broad spectrum, and isolate. Full spectrum CBD contains trace amounts of THC that are not felt but may still show up in a drug test. Broad spectrum CBD and CBD isolate do not contain trace amounts of THC.
Full spectrum is extract from industrial hemp with none of the cannabinoids or terpenes from the plant removed. It’s essentially “as is” extract, unaltered, as it comes from industrial hemp. Broad spectrum retains all the materials, but THC is removed. Isolate is 99 percent pure CBD in a crystalline, powder-like form. Core Roots For Life offers full-spectrum and isolate products. Consult each product’s page on the website to see if it’s an isolate or full spectrum product.
What is CBD oil?
CBD oil is the extract (either full spectrum, broad spectrum, or isolate), mixed with a carrier oil to make what’s called a tincture. Sometimes, flavoring is added to alter the taste of the product. Core Roots full-spectrum tinctures use a mix of organic olive oil and organic hemp seed oil. This blend is unique for its mild taste without adding artificial flavorings.
CBD oil is placed under the tongue and held there for at least 30 seconds. This is called sublingual, a process that bypasses the digestive system and goes right into the bloodstream.
Is CBD legal?
Cannabidiol derived from industrial hemp was descheduled in December 2018 in the 2018 “Farm Bill.” This process removed cannabidiol sourced from industrial hemp from the list of controlled substances, which does not allow “marijuana extracts.”
Where does Core Roots For Life source its products?
Core Roots For Life is sourced from industrial hemp. By law, our products have .3% or less THC, trace amounts that do not produce the “high” feeling often associated with cannabis. The hemp is grown organically in Kentucky and processed in Connecticut. Our CBD is processed using an alcohol-free solvent, called CO2 extraction.
